I am an Assistant Professor on the tenure-track at the Department of Sociology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. My research interests revolve around racial disparities in health, and my research examines how vicarious racism as a social stressor affects the health of Black Americans over the life course. My work has been published in the Journal of African-American Studies, the Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, Society and Mental Health, Addictive Behaviors, Health Promotion Practice, Aging and Health, Journal of Happiness Studies, Social Science & Medicine, International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, Aging and Mental Health, Neurobiology of Pain, Drug Alcohol and Dependence, Journal of Affective Disorders, Sociological Focus, Early Childhood Research Quarterly, and JAMA Network Open.
I graduated with a BA in Sociology from Morehouse College in 2013 before earning my MA in Sociology from the University of Memphis in 2015. In May 2020, I graduated with a PhD in Sociology from the University of Kentucky. I am also a proud, active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
